Phase 2&3: Homemade Chalkboard

A long overdue update for this too!

While we were in Texas, Brandon painted the board with the chalkboard paint.  He gave it two coats.  It had plenty of time to dry. :)

Sunday, JJ & Brandon decided to hang the board.  They found studs and then screwed it into the wall.  It was secured in multiple locations.  The board itself is pretty heavy, so it was important to find the studs to make she it was well mounted.

Leveling the board - its still off a little.  Mostly my fault :)
JJ with his drill ready to go.
Is it me, or does JJ look nervous here?!
Brandon sunk the screws so that they were flush with the surface.  He then took some joint compound and covered the screw heads.  Once that dried he sanded it down so that it was smooth with the surface.  He took a wet paper towel to wipe off the dust and then put a coat of paint with a brush over those places.

After joint compound was added, before sanding.
Smoothed with sandpaper and covered with paint by brush.
The last step will be to roll the surface with a roller to get it nice and smooth.  Then two wait 3 days and it will be ready to use!  Stay tuned for the last installment!!! :)
