Praline Pecan Crunch

Here is a good, sweet snack that is another one of my mom's recipes.  It makes a great hostess gift or even a teacher gift.

Here's what you need:

16oz Quaker Oat Squares
2cups pecan pieces
1/2cup light corn syrup
1/2cup brown sugar
1/4cup butter
1tsp vanilla extract
1/2tsp baking soda

Preheat oven to 250F

Combine cereal & nuts in 13x9 baking dish; set aside.

Combine syrup, sugar, & butter in 2cup microwave safe bowl.  Microwave on High for 1 1/2 minutes; stir.

Micro on High for 1/2 to 1 1/2 minutes more or until boiling.  Stir in vanilla & baking soda.  Pour over cereal mixture. Stir to coat evenly.

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes.  Spread on baking sheet to cool; break into pieces.  Makes 10 cups.

*Note: This is nice and crunchy on day one.  It doesn't maintain the crunchiness for long - so eat fast (and you really won't have a problem doing that!!!)
