Well, I think the House Party went well today. It was nice having people over to the house, since we really haven't 'officially' done that since moving to MS.
Plus, we got to eat good food.
So, there were 4 Velveeta Cheesy Skillets we got to try. And the most well received skillet was:
Yep - the Chicken Broccoli. Now, I didn't say the most well receive by who. The adults liked this one the most.
The second runner up was the:
Yummy, Zesty BBQ Chicken.
The other two, which were way more popular with the kids, were the Nacho Supreme and the Ultimate Cheeseburger. They were - eh. Nothing that we hadn't seen before.
So, on a cost breakdown - the 2 chicken meals cost $1.75/box + $1.88/lb for chicken = $3.63 for a meal. And there was PLENTY of food. Our family of 4 would have no problem (right now). I'm sure once kids get bigger that might be different.
The 2 beef meals were $1.75/box + $2.50/lb for ground beef = $4.25 for a meal. Again - a pretty good deal.
Positives of these meals (when comparing to other box dinners with add-on meat):
1) Different types of pasta - you didn't have your ordinary elbows every meal.
2) Cheese! I don't really need to say anymore than that.
3) Chicken option.
4) Cost.
Negatives:
1) Meat meals didn't seem much different than the average box that is out there now. Nothing spectacular.
2) You have to get your own meat. I like boxes (or frozen bags) that have everything there.
3) Availability. @Walmart yesterday in town they only had 1 of the 4 options we tried. At least one of them was the chicken.
Overall, I think the meals were good. They were different and easy. Plus, the company sure did make them more fun.
Thanks for everyone that came and did some sampling!!
